Daniel Scott New Branch President Columbus, Ohio

Union Brothers and Sisters:

It's an honor to serve as your Branch President. This being our first Columbus, Ohio Newsletter to inform you the members of our Union Past, Present, and Future Endeavors. Dissemination of information is a key ingredient in communicating with our members. In the late 60's and early 70's companies in the U.S. was approximately 67% Unionized!! Companies that have Unions are on the decline. We are fortunate to have a voice to address our wages, health care, vacation/sick time and conditions in our work place.

We can not afford to take for granted what our great union has accomplished. In order for our union to remain viable and strong we must unify ourselves. Personal issues and vendetta's should be pushed aside and thrown away for the better of the big picture. Ninety five percent of our members are five star professional mail handlers, rarely do these members have a need to call for representation. Under our
administration we are gong to be addressing ways to give back to the majority! Those that are of the five percentile, we are going to be encouraging you to elevate your performance. Remember union brothers and sisters, the Union job and function is to protect your contractual rights; It's your responsibility to protect your job. Let's band together, unite, and encourage one another to strengthen where we are weak! We are Union. We are one. We are Family.

In closing. There are several committees that I would like to encourage our members to be active in, Social and Recreation, Good Housekeeping, QWL, Safety Captains, Trainers, etc… The more involved in, the more knowledge we will have to share with our members. Your brother Daniel Scott

New Mail Handler Newsletter

Elections are now over. Time to focus on our business at hand.

To all whom voiced their opinion and those who voted for change. I thank you! Now is the time for us all to unite! Change at times can be difficult and uncomfortable to get use to. To  that I say, be patient, give us an opportunity to implement our vision/direction. Representing "You" the member professionally, with honesty, commitment and integrity is an absolute must! No longer can we do business the same old way! In the near future, the following will take place:

  1. Forming the picnic committee (interested volunteers please see your union steward)
  2. Columbus, Ohio Newsletter (Spotlighting a Mail Handler from each tour)
  3. Membership Meeting (Tentative Location Holiday Inn Seltzer Road)
  4. Suggestion Box.
